User Experience (UX), have you considered what this phrase means? The end-user of any web application will no doubt have a positive or negative feeling about their experience. A statement once made by award-winning author, Maya Angelou pointed out how you can forget what people say or do to you but you will never forget how something made you feel. This is an important factor any UX professional must consider. After devoting years into creating effective UX experiences, a vision and plan is ready to be launched.
This mission kicks off with EVE, an upcoming UX Agency which stands for Effective Virtual Experiences. The agency is founded by, Detroit native Eve Eden, who is a Wayne State University Alum with over 12 years experience in the design and tech industry. Eden is passionate about design and giving back to her hometown. Her goal is to create more opportunities for local businesses through user-centric designs, and encouraging women to excel in the tech industry.
Currently women in tech fields is scarce, particularly in math and computer science. The tech industry is statistically dominated by men. In the latest annual data reported by the United States Department of Labor, 57% of women participate in the labor force. Only 26% of women however, are in computer and mathematical occupations.

In hopes to change these stats and to encourage more diversity for women, the city of Detroit has created some new programs. The Grand Circus Detroit located in downtown on Woodward Ave. is providing boot camps and training workshops in tech fields such as front-end development and programming. One specific boot camp in particular began this past July 2016 called DEVELOP(her). According to the Grandcircus.com website, it is a coding bootcamp for women in the Detroit and Flint communities.
DEVELOP(her) is an innovative program that will find, train and unleash 20 female developers into the world. The list of tech programs offered by Grand Circus Detroit is going to help meet the demands for fast-growing tech careers. The classes are 10 weeks long with evenings and weekend schedules available.

Eden feels women are a good fit for the tech industry and is excited to be starting an agency that can enhance the lives of women and bring more jobs into the city. EVE is set to accomplish the perfect user experience. The demands for effective design will be carefully researched and crafted. The tech world needs diversity for more women to be employed and this will be met.
“Women in tech can enhance the user’s experience because of their natural abilities to sympathize with people.” Eden said. EVE is aimed to also help Detroit continue to rise in development and to encourage and employ more women developers in the area.
